Welcome to my blog.  My name is Crystal and love being a woman.  When I think of what a woman is so many things come to mind and I have yet to find a clear, distinct set of words.  One may ask why is this?  The answer is there is no true definition of what can define a woman.  We are multifaceted beings and no one is created equal.  If ten women were in a room each would feel as such, a woman.  But if one was to look just a little closer,  each one has a different set of elements that makes them unique .

The Fruits of my Labor

The Fruits of my Labor

As I embarked on my first day of school, I thought to myself, “I AM A SCHOOL LEADER!!!" It is 5 am and I look at myself in the mirror feeling the butterflies fluttering intensely.  Are you sure you got this? Do you think you are prepared? Are you ready?  The ugly face of self-doubt entered the bathroom where I stood.  It took me about 15 mins before I snapped out of it.  I picked up my phone hastily swiping to my YouTube app, where I played Travis Greene's “He's Intentional.  “After leaving it on repeat (listened to the song at least 7 times) the chaos that was erupting inside of me slowed down.

Suddenly I paused.... I took a deep breath and said Crystal you are exactly where you are supposed to be. The table has been set, and you have a place at the table.  As I began getting dressed I thought back to my life experiences preparing me for this day.  I am a mother of three boys.  I take great pride in the opportunity to have home-schooled them.  Living overseas did not allow for them to experience school in their early childhood.  I learned quickly how to become resourceful.  I am an educated woman.  Just as my students are coming into my building to become educated, I have been in the same position.  I sat in the seats of classrooms to gain the knowledge needed.  I worked towards completing not one Masters, but two. I went on to gain an ED.S degree in school leadership.  So Crystal what more validation do you need to believe that this is for you?

It's amazing, even when you know for yourself that you have worked hard towards accomplishing your goals, we still feel undeserving when it comes to fruition.  For many of us we allow fear of failure to set in. Others allow self-doubt.  I needed the universe to prove to me this was not happenstance.  And of course it did.  Did I not see this? Or was I just willing to blind myself to my calling.  The role you are currently in is yours.  You have set the table yourself.  It's funny how afraid you were to take a seat at the head of your own table.  You were willing to be an ordinary guest, when you are the guest of honor.  But, the universe and life had a different plan for you.  Just when you thought you will interview for a role you would have been good at, you would be offered the role you would be great at.

In order to be great you have to be challenged.  Greatness isn't given, it's earned. So Crystal, look in the mirror and challenge yourself every day and become great.  Because you will bear the fruit of your labor.

The image on the other side of the mirror finally smiled and said “You got this! Go get them! Be the the guest of honor in your life and take the time to enjoy the fruit that's finally in bloom.  Soon you will be sowing new seeds.”

Until Next time
